CabGuard Air didn't start in a lab. It started in a closed truck at 2am, at a truck stop outside — Wilmington when a driver got tired of breathing gasoline and chemical fumes and decided to do something about it.

One Problem.
Darryl spent 15 years driving OTR routes across North and South Carolina. He's seen every truck stop from Mooresville to Wilmington and to Charleston. He's slept in his closed paneled truck in July heat in Wilmington and January cold in West Jefferson. And for 15 years, he breathed the same air every other long-haul driver breathes — diesel exhaust, recycled cab air, and whatever the truck stop parking lot had to offer.
"I tried everything," Darryl says. "Air fresheners, those little charcoal bags you hang up, cracking the window. Nothing actually worked. The fresheners just mixed with the diesel smoke smell. The bags did nothing. And cracking the window in January in North Carolina isn't a solution."
The breakthrough came when Darryl started researching industrial air filtration. Activated charcoal — the same material used in military gas masks and industrial HVAC systems — works through adsorption, not absorption. Contaminant molecules physically bond to the charcoal's surface and stay there.
The question wasn't whether charcoal worked. It was whether it could be made to work passively — using only the fan every driver already runs in their cab. Two years of prototypes and 200,000 test miles later, the answer was yes.
From Idea to

The Problem
After 15 years behind the wheel, our founder noticed a pattern — every driver he knew complained about the same thing: the air in their cab. Diesel fumes at truck stops. Recycled air in sleepers. No good solution existed.

The founder started experimenting with activated charcoal — the same material used in water filters and gas masks. The question: could it be engineered to work passively, using only the fan already running in every cab?
The Patent
After two years of prototyping and testing across 200,000 miles of real-world driving, the CabGuard Air mounting system was filed for U.S. patent protection. The design was proven. The product was real.
The Launch
CabGuard Air shipped its first units to a group of OTR drivers who had been part of the testing program. The feedback was immediate. Sleep quality improved. Complaints about cab odor disappeared.
